They offer a range of cushioning for increased flexibility and support while also reducing the chance of injury.
But it’s important to remember that you shouldn’t always shoe up with the right shoe.
It can be a struggle to find the right pair of running shoes for you, especially if you’re new to running.
“You don’t have to run with the wrong shoes,” says sports performance coach Rebecca Blythe.
The shoe is what gives your feet strength and control, says Blyshe, a lecturer in sport and exercise at the University of Newcastle in New South Wales.
“But there are a few things you should know before you buy a pair of shoes.”

So, if a shoe is too small for your feet it won’t fit.”
If you can’t find a suitable shoe for your foot size, you can always buy shoes that are designed to fit wider feet.
Blyshe recommends looking for shoes with “breech” or “floating” technology.

It’s the same as wearing a suit every day, but you should also make sure you don’t wear them out of the house.

“It’s about making sure you’re comfortable with your running style.”
For example:Blysea suggests a simple dress shoe with latching points at the ankle, while running shoes should be designed for a range from barefoot to running flats.
Blyse also advises buying shoes with lugs.
“The lugs are designed specifically for running, so you don.t want to put too much pressure on them,” she explains.
For women who wear athletic footwear, Blyshes recommends wearing a light-weight boot, which is designed to offer flexibility.
“It’s more comfortable than running shoes,” she recommends.
